Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a Forensic Scientist in Toxicology. I don’t get much free time between working and making sure my kids aren’t causing a disaster worthy of national news coverage. I’m a bit of a bookworm and movie geek. I also spin when I can’t get out to the gym.
Why Did you start CrossFit and how long have you been doing it?
I started CrossFit about 5 years ago, right after having my first baby. I was terrified. I thought I wasn’t “in shape enough” or that I’d fail and be laughed out of the box. Instead, I found people who wanted me to succeed and will always push me to be the best version of myself. CrossFit has made me say yes: Yes I can put more weight on the bar; Yes I can do 1 more burpee; Yes I can do better than yesterday.
What’s your favorite type of WOD?
I love the Hero WODs and AMRAPS. I’m not much of a sprinter, so the WODs that you just grind away at are the best. The Seven is my favorite WOD.
What is your favorite movement? Which movement keeps you on the couch when you see the WOD?
I never thought I’d like working out with the barbell as much as I do. Cleans, Jerks, Deadlifts. I hate Wallballs and Thrusters.
What is your ideal cheat meal?
Eggs Benedict with a giant Bloody Mary.
What advice would you give someone looking to start CrossFit?
Just try. It’s going to be hard. It’s supposed to be. But your coaches and other members will pull you through. And then you’ll look back and see how great you feel to accomplish something that seemed impossible yesterday.
