Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m a civil prosecutor for the Administration for Children’s Services. I’ve been working there for over 12 years prosecuting parents and other people responsible for the care of children for abuse and neglect. When I’m not at work I’m a personal bitch, oh- I mean mother, to two girls, ages 8 and 5 and spend most of my non-working waking hours tending to their ridiculous and not-so ridiculous needs. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
3 random facts about me:
- I have an unhealthy fear of the stomach virus
- I sang in an a-cappella group for 8 years (think Pitch Perfect)
- I played the part of Little Red Ridinghood twice in Into The Woods
Why did you start CrossFit and how long have you been doing it?
Before I started CrossFit I was doing Beachbody for a little over a year. I was getting bored of the same workouts and I hated that there was no social aspect to it. Two of my friends who were members at CPD suggested that I try it. My first workout was Martin Luther King Day and I’ve been hooked ever since!
What’s your favorite type of WOD?
I prefer WODS with lots of cardio because I can’t really screw up those movements as much as I can when the barbell is involved. I consider it a successful workout if I feel like I just walked out of a shower by the time I’m done!
What is your favorite movement? Which movement keeps you on the couch when you see the WOD?
My favorite movement is the handstand pushup and my least favorite are snatches.
What is your ideal cheat meal?
Anything unhealthy! I love dessert- that’s where most of my calories come from. I love ice cream, Italian pastries, cakes, etc. I’m a sucker for good Italian food- homemade pastas and pizzas.
What advice would you give someone looking to start Crossfit?
Check your ego at the door and expect to progress slowly. There are MANY moves I still can’t do and when I think that I’ve been at this fairly consistently for almost a year, that sometimes frustrates me. However, despite my shortcomings, I have seen tremendous progress both in the way I feel and look.
