Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I currently work at my dad’s textile company. He is trying to get me into the family business, and if we take more business trips to North Carolina or California, it may work. Also I coach basketball at St. Joseph’s College. Outside of work and CrossFit I hang out with my family and boyfriend or play basketball. Sometimes both at the same time.
Why Did you start CrossFit and how long have you been doing it?
After graduating college and being done with basketball competitively I was bored with the “gym routine” and forcing myself to do 5K’s on the weekend so I decided to try out CrossFit. People spoke so highly of the workouts, community, and competitive nature so figured I should give it a shot. My first WOD included thrusters and to this day they continue to be the bane of my existence. But that first workout solidified the fact that I wanted to come back for more and a little over a year later I am still involved. It is hard to pick one thing I like most about CrossFit, but if I had to pick I would say the CrossFit Open. Mainly because it combines all the great aspects of CrossFit: community, competitiveness, and killer workouts.
What’s your favorite type of WOD?
My favorite type of WOD is a chipper for sure. If there are deadlifts and rowing in there, I’m set.
What is your favorite movement? Which movement keeps you on the couch when you see the WOD?
My favorite movement is the deadlift. I could definitely live without thrusters.
What is your ideal cheat meal?
My ideal cheat meal is literally any type of ice cream.
What advice would you give someone looking to start CrossFit?
My advice to anyone looking to start CrossFit is to just go and try it. You will be amazed by what you can do and will be able to do in this environment. You won’t regret it and will definitely find something that you like.
